We had some of our wonderful friends from Melbourne visit in the last month of winter. The clouds parted and we were treated to a perfect afternoon. Our friends Matthew, Thay and their two boys were at the farm to enjoy a family get away. Matthew as luck would have it is a great wood fired pizza maker. So mathew and I spent a saturday afternoon and evening making the pizzas. He first walked me through creating a perfect fire for the pizza. (side note; I can now create a fire for warmth inside our home in a quater of the time). Back to the pizzas, he showed utako and I how to create the perfect pizza base and how he goes about applying the toppings. Thay showed Utako a delicious recipe for the tomato sauce that takes a fraction of the time. We were astonished later that nite how delicious the pizzas were using mostly the same ingredients.
Thanks to Matthew and Thay weve gone from making crispy pizzas to neopolitan style. We have a way to go but our pizzas are pretty delicious and getting better all the time.
